About Senfronia Thompson

Rep. Thompson's legacy is one built from strong principles of faith, an unwavering defense of freedom, and a staunch belief in fairness. She exemplifies the American ideal that one person can make a difference. For over 33 years, 17 regular legislative sessions, and 200 bills passed into law, Representative Senfronia Thompson has led the charge on almost any issue related to protecting Texas families and defending the right for all to educational, personal, and economic opportunities.
A native Texan, born in Booth, Representative Thompson has always had Texas on her mind and has dedicated her life to public service. She has defended the rights of those less fortunate, created opportunities for small businesses to flourish, and fought for fully funded classrooms, healthy kids, and safe neighborhoods. As an accomplished state legislator, lawyer, teacher, mother, and grandmother, Rep. Thompson sees it as her responsibility to apply what she says to what she does and lead by example.

Why Senfronia?
Why should the members of the Texas House elect Representative Thompson to the highest office in the House? One could answer that question with several legitimate responses: one of the longest-serving Members, over 200 laws passed, former Chair of several committees, bipartisan philosophy of governing, a champion of the people of Texas, a fair friend and colleague.
Although the list could continue, the argument boils down to the fact that Rep. Thompson is a person who can bring Texas together again by sticking to rules of the game, abiding by the committee process, providing bi-partisan leadership, and allowing Members the chance to fairly represent their districts.

Why Now?
Life is short. Change is inevitable. Opportunities to really make a difference are rare, at best. Why should you travel lock-step and pass up a unique chance to make your voice heard, to change the course of history, to make your mark on this great state and for the people of Texas? Why would you continue sacrificing your district and ultimately the needs of those who matter most: the people whom we represent? You have the opportunity to end the partisan bickering, to choose inclusion versus exclusion, democracy versus oligarchy. I urge you to take this opportunity for our state, your district, our future. |
